SAMPLING & INSPECTION · Diecasting Mold ENGINEERING RESOURCES
Check the revision and sample condition
Confirm that the model, dimensioned drawing, alloy specification and finish requirements refer to the same revision. Record whether samples are as-cast, machined, finished or assembled. A measurement result is only useful when it is clear which stage of the component it describes.
Match the report to the drawing
Identify the critical dimensions, datums and any geometric tolerances in the inspection plan. Confirm measurement methods and access for difficult features before sampling. Review the actual reported results and any agreed deviations rather than relying only on an overall pass label.
Review appearance and function separately
Cosmetic acceptance, assembly fit and functional tests can each require a different sample condition and method. Compare visible surfaces against the agreed reference, check mating interfaces and review any specified leak or performance test. No single visual or dimensional check proves every requirement of the assembled product.
Close actions before production release
Record open items, responsible parties and any approved changes. If a sample requires rework or an engineering revision, define which checks must be repeated. Production release should refer to the accepted revision, inspection plan and packaging requirements so later batches follow the component and process that were actually approved.
